The members of the LEIPZIGER OBOENQUARTETT (Peter Heinze - oboe, Michael Pöschke - violin, Stephan Scharf - viola & Michael Pfaender - cello) are young musicians who met while performing in a chamber orchestra during their studies at the Leipzig Conservatory. Since its formation over 8 years ago the ensemble has given numerous concerts both in Germany and abroad including performances for radio and television. The repertoire extends from Classical, Romantic and Impressionist music, with special emphasis on the Vienna Classics,  to modern works. The quartet is often joined by a flute player, thereby expanding the repertoire to works for mixed quintet, as well as music for string trio and flute (see LEIPZIGER FLÖTENQUARTETT).
